System operators are conducting planned frequency stability tests

The electricity systems of Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania continue to operate independently. 

In accordance with the island operation test program, Baltic system operators are carrying out frequency stability tests to assess the capability to ensure grid stability. 

During the tests, we will deliberately unbalance production and consumption and evaluate the response of control systems and frequency reserves. This is a series of tests in which we create deviations from the normal frequency. 

This is a planned and controlled activity that remains unnoticeable to consumers. 

The total consumption of the Baltics is currently around 3600 MW, generation – around 3300 MW. The rest is covered by interconnections to Nordics.
