Aggregation service
The activity of combining the consumption load of consumers or the generating capacity of producers for sale or purchase on the electricity market and/or balancing market is called aggregation. An entity who provides aggregation service, or aggregates, is called an aggregator, and an entity who aggregates consumption or power-generating facilities that are not located in their own balance area is called an independent aggregator.
An aggregator can trade the consumption load and generating capacity management in its portfolio on the balancing market and on the power exchange (day-ahead and intraday electricity market). An aggregator operates in the role of a balancing service provider (BSP) on the balancing market and as a trader on the power exchange.
Elering, as the system operator, is in the process of developing the terms and conditions for participating in demand response. These conditions describe the processes related to the aggregator on the balancing market and the power exchange. Elering will publish the terms and conditions for participating in demand response on this page at the earliest opportunity.
