Elering’s infrastructure
Elering operates and manages both domestic and cross-border electricity and gas transmission systems.
The electricity transmission system consists primarily of 110 kV and 330 kV high-voltage lines and substations. Cross-border lines connect Estonia with Finland and Latvia, and the disconnection from the Russian network and connection to the European Union electricity system took place in February 2025. Read more about how the power system operates in the description of the energy system.
The gas transmission system consists of category D gas pipelines and distribution stations. Cross-border gas pipelines also connect Estonia with Finland and Latvia, and cross-border gas transmission is supported by border metering stations and gas compressor stations located in Paldiski and Puiatu.
