The share of natural gas imported to Estonia from Lithuania amounted to 9.8% of the total import volume in July.

Last month, a total of 16.8 million cubic metres of natural gas was imported to Estonia. 1.6 million cubic metres of gas was purchased from Lithuania. Only Eesti Energia imported gas from there last month. The rest of the natural gas brought to Estonia came from Gazprom.

Trading was passive on the Lithuanian gas exchange GET Baltic last month and most transactions were concluded at the price of 15.26 euros/MWh, the comparable price on the Finnish Kaasupörssi ranged between 13.50–17.91 euros.

The imported natural gas entered Estonia through Karksi and Värska and the amount of imported gas ranged between 0–0.8 million cubic metres per day. The cross-border gas deliveries were not disrupted.

Compared to the July of last year, the volume of the network service provided by Elering dropped by 8% to 17 million cubic metres. The share of the largest natural gas distribution network – AS Gaasivõrgud – reached approximately 83% in the provision of the transmission service. The estimated reserve volume of the transmission pipes increased by a third in the course of the year and decreased by 7% in the course of the month, amounting to 4.6 million cubic metres at the end of July.

In July, 391.7 million cubic metres of natural gas was transported from Russia to Latvia via the transit pipes running through South-East Estonia. Compared to the same month last year, the transit volume decreased by approximately 30%. Filling of the underground gas storage in Latvia began on 8 June. The container was filled to the extent of 32% at the end of July.
