According to Elering smart network platform data, the number of points of consumption with a network agreement at the end of last year exceeded 725,000 for the first time in history, having grown by about 1,700 points of consumption in the course of the year.

581,000 points of consumption buy electricity from an electricity seller on the basis of a contract. 144,000 points of consumption have not chosen a seller and they were supplied power under universal service by the network service provider.

Last year, close to 17,000 points of consumption changed to a different seller, which comes to an average of 1,400 changes per month. The activity level in terms of changes of seller grows at the start of the year and at the six month mark but as a general trend the number of changes is declining. A year earlier, the seller was changed on 21,600 occasions and before that on 25,800 occasions. At the start of January 2019, 4,300 points of consumption changed sellers and 27 500 new electricity buying contracts were signed with the former or new seller.

During the last two years, the Elering smart network platform has also gathered data on gas contracts. As of the end of December 2018 there were 56,500 points of consumption covered by a network contract. The annual increase was about 700. About 1,300 points of consumption had not chosen a gas seller and the rest buy gas on the basis of a gas contract from gas seller. At the beginning of the year 400 points of consumption changed to a different gas seller; and the year before, the number of those who changed seller was about 100 fewer. On average for the year, the gas seller was changed about 180 times per month, which was about the same as in 2017.
