Places of consumption with electricity sales contracts reached 74% in June

By the end of June, electricity sales contracts had been concluded for 74% of the places of electricity consumption, and the universal service was used in 26%. In the last month, the share of places of consumption with electricity sales contracts increased by one percentage point.

In June, contract holders consumed 88 per cent, and universal service consumers, 12 per cent of the electricity used in Estonia.

79 per cent of electricity sales contracts were signed for a fixed term, and 21 per cent were open-ended. Compared to the previous month, the ratio changed in favour of open-ended contracts by one percentage point.

There were 4,333 customers who decided to choose another electricity seller and whose contract with the new seller started from the beginning of July. The number of such customers has been the largest so far this year due to 6-month contracts expiring.

The market share of balance providers, which include both losses for network operators and the amount of electricity consumed through the universal service, is provided in the table below. The table shows what the portfolios of balance providers represent in terms of system consumption calculated on the basis of total consumption measured in the balance provider’s balance area. Balance portfolio shares do not coincide with the balance providers’ own shares of electricity sales to end customers, as the balance portfolio also includes electricity from other sellers within the portfolio. The table shows only the major electricity sellers and their share of the total market volume.
