The average electricity exchange price in the Estonian price area of the Nord Pool Nordic electricity exchange totalled 30.66 euros per megawatt-hour, which is the lowest monthly price since July last year.

In Finland and Latvia, the price was almost the same as in Estonia, totalling 30.68 and 30.65 euros per megawatt-hour respectively. The price in Lithuania was slightly higher, at 31.27 euros.

The system price for the entire Nord Pool exchange was 30.40 euros, which is only 26 cents lower than the Estonian price. This is the lowest price difference seen in recent years.

Electricity moved on the Estonia-Finland connections 54 per cent of the time from Estonia to Finland, 23 per cent from Finland to Estonia, and next-day transactions between the two countries also did not take place for 23 per cent of the time.

On connections between Estonia and Latvia, electricity moved 71 per cent of the time from Estonia to Latvia, and 19 per cent from Latvia to Estonia.

In March, almost 92 per cent of electricity consumed in Estonia was purchased from the exchange.

Based on futures transactions conducted on the last trading day in March, the electricity exchange price in April will be 28.65 euros per megawatt-hours. The price will be around the same level in May.

The price in March for carbon dioxide emission quotas, which influence the price of electricity production, fluctuated around 4.62-5.90 euros per ton.
