In October, the electricity exchange price in the Estonian price area was 37.54 euros per megawatt-hour. In Finland, the average price was the same.

In Latvia and Lithuania, the electricity exchange price was 38.47 euros per megawatt-hour in October, and the price difference was 0.93 euros compared to the average price in the Estonian price area. Estonian and Latvian electricity prices differed for 17.4 per cent of the hours.

According to the data provided by Nord Pool, the Nordic electricity exchange, the average electricity price increased in all Nordic and Baltic areas in October. The Nord Pool system price increased by 30 per cent in comparison with previous month, reaching 32.78 euros. In Estonia, the price increase was almost 16 per cent. The highest and lowest increase in the average price occurred in different areas of Norway, where the price increase was 46 and 12.6 per cent respectively in comparison with last month.

Exceptionally, electricity moved from Estonia to Finland on Estonia-Finland connections for more than half of the October hours. There was no trade between the two countries for 14 per cent of the hours. Between Estonia and Latvia, electricity moved from Estonia to Latvia for 94 per cent of the hours and the full capacity was used for almost a quarter of the time. There was no trade between Estonia and Latvia for 3.9 per cent of the hours.

Elering saw profits of 757,266 euros from cross-border transmission capacity distribution.

Carbon dioxide emission quota prices, which influence the price of electricity production, increased in comparison with September and ranged between 5.21 to 5.95 euros per tonne. In September, the price ranged from 3.93 to 5.02 euros per tonne.

According to power futures on the Nasdaq OMX market, the electricity price in Estonia for November is expected to be 45.5 euros per megawatt-hour and 47.5 euros in December. The average price for next year is expected to be 38.4 euros per megawatt-hour according to the power futures on the last trading day of October.
