Elering, with Prototron as a co-funder, has financed the start-up FuseBox with funding for their prototype in the amount of 10 000 euros, which will develop consumption management in the electricity system and allow revenue through smart electricity consumption. A total of 200 proposals were submitted for the 19th round of Prototron prototype financing, with the focus being on digitalisation.

According to Georg Rute, head of Elering digitalisation and Prototron mentor, flexibility in energy consumption and production will aid, firstly, for more efficient production of solar and wind energy, and secondly, will ensure more economically the reliability of the electricity system in terms of the Baltic States’ desynchronisation from Russia. “FuseBox allows real-time consumption management, which in turn will allow Elering to be able to ensure cheaper balancing of the electricity system in the future,” said Rute.

Elering will provide funding for the Prototron prototype fund for the 2017-18 period, and is interested in applications and solutions for smart energy that are designed to use the Estfeed data exchange platform to access consumer energy consumption data. More information on Estfeed is available via Elering’s website at www.elering.ee/tarkvork.

As part of the sTARTUp Day 2017, held on 8 December in Tartu, Prototron provided prototype funding for development of smart solutions for the 19th time to the value of 30 000 euros. Applications for the next round can be submitted until 15 March 2018 at www.prototron.ee.
