Elering signed a contract with Merko Infra AS to reconstruct the 110 kV section of Sindi substation.

Old 110 kV switchgear equipment will be renovated in the substation and a new control building for automatic, control and auxiliary equipment will be built. The old switchgear and building will be dismantled after the new switchgear has been energised.

The renovation of Sindi substation will enhance the security of supply throughout Western Estonia.

Four bidders took part in the tender process to reconstruct the substation. The best offer came from Merko Infra in the amount of more than 1.9 million euros.

In the coming years, Elering will continue with renovation works in Sindi substation. Among other things, this work is also connected to building the third Estonia-Latvia electricity connection.
