In April, the average electricity exchange price in the Nord Pool Nordic electricity exchange was 31.18 euros per megawatt-hour, compared to 30.66 euros in the previous month.

The electricity price in Finland, Latvia and Lithuania was also at the same level. In Finland, the price was 31.4 euros, while it was 31.42 euros in Latvia and Lithuania. The Nord Pool system price was 29.23 euros per megawatt hour last month.

In April, power flows between Estonia and Finland were directed from Estonia to Finland for 57 per cent of the hours and in the opposite direction for 30 per cent of the hours. Electricity trade with Latvia was similar – electricity moved from Estonia to Latvia for 59 per cent of the hours and from Latvia to Estonia for 38 per cent of the hours.

According to the power futures, the electricity price in Estonia is expected to reach 31.53 euros per megawatt-hour in May. According to the power futures of the last trading day of April, the expected price for 2018 is 30.65 euros per megawatt-hour.

Carbon dioxide emission quota prices, which influence the price of electricity production, decreased a little last month, ranging between 4.49 and 5.05 euros per tonne.

Elering saw profits of 0.4 million euros from cross-border transmission capacity distribution last month.
