Taavi Veskimägi, Chairman of the Elering Board was elected to the board of the European Network of Transmission System Operators for Electricity (ENTSO-E) at the organisation’s Annual Assembly in Vilnius in the beginning of the week.

The ENTSO-E board is responsible for coordinating the operating principles and harmonising the positions of the European TSOs. One of the main challenges in the coming years will be to ensure the reliability of the European electricity system following the closure of Germany’s nuclear power plants and the addition of large amounts of wind power to the grids.

ENTSO-E brings together 41 TSOs from 34 countries, and its goal is to promote the integration of the single European electricity market and improve cooperation between TSOs.
