Finnish and Baltic gas network leaders to meet for the first time at a negotiating table in Tallinn
On Friday, 6th October, the heads of companies managing gas transmission networks will meet in Elering’s head office in Tallinn. This is a first meeting of its kind.
At the meeting, the development of gas market and infrastructure will be discussed as well as projects related to the Estonian-Finnish gas interconnection Balticconnector and the Lithuanian-Polish gas interconnection GIPL.
Regarding market issues, a vision of developing a common market area, which would include the Baltic States and Finland by the year 2020, will be addressed. Among other things, it requires developing an international compensation mechanism in relation to gas transit and a common tariff methodology.
The heads of Finnish companies Gasum OY and Baltic Connector OY, Elering, Latvian gas system operator Conexus Baltic Grid and Lithuanian system operator AB Amber Grid will take part in the meeting.
