Elering to launch a smart grid client portal today that centralises electronic services

As a next step in developing an energy market, Elering is launching a smart grid client portal https://e.elering.ee that centralises the data of producing and consuming energy and relevant services.

“Our energy wholesale market works quite well, but developing a retail market calls for extensive digitisation of the whole energy sector to enable us to provide solutions that are more economical, clever and above energy carriers, given our limited resources”, explained Elering’s Chairman of the Board, Taavi Veskimägi.

On e-elering, every energy consumer can monitor their electricity and natural gas consumption, compare consumption with other similar clients, provide safe access for energy service providers to their personal consumption data, authorise other people to represent them in processes concerning energy consumption and services, check the usage of their personal data and compare different electricity packages.

What makes e-elering so valuable is the ability to centralise different energy sources into one portal, the opportunity for users to authorise other private individuals to act on their behalf, and centralising energy services from third parties, besides Elering itself, into one so-called department store for apps.

In the near future, several new apps that make energy consumption cost-effective and thought-out will reach users. Apps including system interfacing for controlling the operation of air source heat pumps and solutions for commercial real estate energy consumption analyses, among others, are currently in the pipeline.

Elering has digitised the entire information exchange and administration in the process of joining the electricity transmission network, and has provided a solution to apply for renewable energy subsidies. For example, an electricity producer who uses solar panels can register for a renewable energy subsidy within minutes so that the subsidy from then on can be received automatically.

The technical solution and client portal of Elering’s smart grid is also open for third parties to offer different energy services and applications.
