According to Elering’s smart grid statistics, around 1000 consumption points changed electricity seller from 1 August.

In total, Estonia has about 722 000 consumption points with an electricity connection, of which 581 000 have concluded an electricity purchase agreement.

The remaining 141 000 consumption points, comprising a fifth of all consumption points, do not have an electricity contract and thus use universal service. They are sold electricity by their local network operator. Electricity bought from universal service made up only 4.5 per cent of total electricity consumption in Estonia in June.

Based on production volumes, in June the balance provider with the largest market share was Eesti Energia, with 87.7 per cent. This was followed by Scener, with 5.8 per cent, Nordic Power Management with 4.1 per cent, Fortum Eesti with 1.7 per cent, Elektrum Eesti with 0.5 per cent and Alexela Eesti with 0.1 per cent.

The market shares of electricity sellers’ balance portfolios for recent months are set out in the table below. Portfolio weighting is based on regional measured consumption volumes, which include network operators’ network losses as well as universal service volumes. Fixed deliveries to consumers are not taken into account, the result of which may be that sellers’ actual sales volumes differ slightly from those in the table below.
