The power supply in and around Rapla was interrupted this evening as a result of a fire.

This evening a fire was reported in Elering’s Rapla substation, which caused the electricity supply to Rapla and surrounding areas, Kehtna, and part of Järvakandi to be interrupted at 20:19.

The power supply has been restored by now. The supply was restored to Järvakandi at 20:33, to Kehtna at 21:11 and to Rapla at 22:27.

The local rescue centre was informed immediately of the incident and it was necessary to switch off the whole substation to ensure the safety of the fire-fighting operation.

The exact cause of the fire is being investigated, but there were very powerful thunderstorms in the area.
