Number of open-ended contracts exceeds 200 000

According to statistics from the Elering-run Data Warehouse, the number of users on open-ended contracts grew by 2000 in February to 201 000 contracts.

At the same time, the number of fixed-term contacts fell by more than 1000, and amounted to 377 000 on the last day of February. In total, there are electricity purchase agreements in place at 578 000 consumption points, or at 81 per cent of all consumption points.

The remaining consumption points, totalling almost 138 000 points, do not have electricity contracts and use universal service. Universal service users accounted for only around five per cent of electricity consumption.

At the beginning of March, more than 600 consumption points changed their electricity seller.

The market shares of the electricity sellers for the last few months are presented in the table below. The weights of the portfolios are based on measurements of regional consumption volumes, which include network operators’ network losses in additional to universal service volumes. Fixed-supply consumers have not been included in calculations, the result of which is that the actual market shares of sellers may differ slightly from the information given in the table.

In terms of production, Eesti Energia’s balance portfolio was the largest in January, constituting 92 per cent of Estonia’s electricity production. This was followed by the Nordic Power Management balance portfolio with four per cent, the Baltic Energy Services balance portfolio with three per cent, and the Fortum Eesti balance portfolio with one percent of production.
