Electricity and gas system operator Elering will pay property tax for portions of real estate included in protected zones around electricity and gas infrastructure as a toleration payment again this year.

For the current year, a person is entitled to claim payment if that person was the owner of the real estate as of 1 March, in the event that the person submits a toleration payment application by the deadline set out in the legislation, which is 1 July. For landowners with obligations to tolerate who have not previously applied for toleration payments but would like to receive payment for 2016, Elering will therefore be accepting applications until 1 July. Landowners who have previously submitted applications to receive toleration payments in years past do not need to submit new applications.

Chairman of the Elering Board, Taavi Veskimägi, said that Elering hopes there will soon be more legal clarity with regards to toleration payments and that the drafting of the uniform toleration payment regulation will soon be completed by the Ministry of Justice.

Further information on toleration payments is available on the Elering website, where the application form can also be found. The application must be submitted via email to ene.antik@elering.ee or info@elering.ee, or by post to Elering AS, 24 Laki Street, 12915, Tallinn. Elering will pay out toleration payments by 1 December.

Elering manages more than 5500 kilometres of high-voltage lines and approximately 900 kilometres of gas pipelines.
