Electricity exchange price remains over four euros cheaper than Latvia’s in June
According to information provided by the Nord Pool Nordic electricity exchange, the electricity exchange price in the Estonian price area in June totalled 36.22 euros per megawatt-hour, while the price in Latvia and Lithuania was 4.31 euros higher. This was approximately the same price gap as in May.
In Finland, the electricity exchange price last month totalled 35.41 euros per megawatt-hour, or 0.81 euros lower than in Estonia; and the Nord Pool system price in June was 26.53 euros per megawatt-hour.
Cross-border electricity movements last month were typically from Finland to Estonia and from Estonia on to Latvia. In June, 47 per cent of the Finland-Estonia transmission capacity was used, and the full capacity was used for four per cent of the time. On the Estonia-Latvia interconnections, 84 per cent of the transmission capacity was used, with capacity being exhausted for 45 per cent of the time.
Last month, Elering earned approximately 1.2 million euros in revenues from cross-border transmission capacity distribution.
On the basis of futures transactions on the Nasdaq OMX exchange, the July electricity price in the Estonian price area will total 31.71 euros.
The price of carbon dioxide quotas, which influence the electricity price, fluctuated between 4.61 and 6.19 euros per ton last month, which is about the same level as in May.
