Roughly 20 million cubic meters of natural gas was imported to Estonia in September, about a quarter of that came from Lithuania.

Balance providers mainly imported gas through the border crossing points of Karksi and Värska in September. Both the gas from the Lithuanian gas exchange and the gas from the Belarussian gas system purchased from the Gazprom auction are delivered to Estonia through Karksi. Thus, the amount of gas delivered from Lithuania can only be estimated indirectly.

The amount of gas delivered to Estonia over 24 hours ranged from 0.38–1.48 million cubic meters. The system administrator ensured deliveries to cover the demands of all market participants.

In the Lithuanian gas exchange GET Baltic, the price of natural gas fluctuated between 14.1–16.8 euros per megawatt hour last month. The comparable price range at the Finnish Kaasupörssi was 15.2–18.8 euros per megawatt hour.

Elering provided gas transmission services in the volume of 19.9 million cubic meters in September, which is almost a tenth less compared to last September. The largest transmission system operator – Gaasivõrgud – provided 89 percent of the transmission services.

Over the nine months of this year, 355 million cubic meters or 3,745 gigawatt hours of gas has been consumed in Estonia. The reserve volume of the gas transmission pipes increased slightly in September and amounted to 4.48 million cubic meters at the end of the month.
