In September, natural gas imports from Lithuania to Estonia totalled 17.8 per cent of all natural gas imported to Estonia.

Last month, natural gas was imported from Lithuania by Baltic Energy Partners, Eesti Energia and Reola Gaas.

In September, Estonia imported a total of 21.9 million cubic metres of natural gas, which is seven per cent less in a year-on-year comparison.

17.8 per cent of the natural gas was imported via Karksi, 69.9 per cent via Värska and 12.4 per cent via the Narva border checkpoint. Last month, the cross-border gas flow ranged between 0.1 and 1.2 million cubic metres per twenty-four-hour period.

In September, natural gas transmission services rendered by Elering fell by nine per cent, reaching 22.0 million cubic metres in a year-on-year comparison. During the first eight months, Elering rendered transmission services in the amount of 337 million cubic metres. According to prognoses at the end of September, the amount of transmission services for this year may reach 491 million cubic metres.

In a monthly calculation, the gas transmission pipeline’s capacity reserve decreased by 0.15 million cubic metres, reaching 4.18 million cubic metres by the end of September.

According to Elering’s calculations, the average price cap on Gazprom’s natural gas imports to Estonia was 19.37 euros per megawatt-hour. In Lithuania, the average price of natural gas traded on the Get Baltic gas exchange was 17.76 euros per megawatt-hour over the same period.

In September, 348.6 million cubic metres of natural gas moved from Russia to Latvia through the gas transit pipeline passing through southeast Estonia, a fall of almost a third in a year-on-year comparison.
