Number of Open-Ended Electricity Contracts Increases by 2000 in a Month

According to statistics from Andmeladu, the data hub administered by Elering, open-ended or mainly exchange-based electricity purchase contracts were in force in more than 159,000 consumption points, approximately 2000 more than a month ago.

The number of fixed-term or fixed-price electricity purchase contracts has decreased by approximately 600, and now total a little over 412,000 contracts. In total, electricity purchase contracts have been concluded for approximately 571, 000 consumption points.

According to Andmeladu statistics, there are slightly less than 140,000 consumption points that do not have an electricity contract and therefore currently use universal services. A month ago, there were approximately 1000 more consumption points of this kind. In January, the proportion of electricity consumed at consumption points without electricity contracts was 7.4 per cent of total consumption.

The data provided by Andmeladu also suggests that 700 consumption points will change electricity provider at the beginning of March. This is half the number that changed at the beginning of February.

The market shares of sellers’ balance portfolios for the last few months can be seen in the table below. The calculation of portfolio shares is based on regional consumption capacities, which include the grid losses of network operators and universal service usage volumes. Supply to consumers fixed in advance has not been taken into account, as a result of which actual sales shares may differ slightly from those presented in the table.
