According to data from Elering’s smart network platform Estfeed, as of the end of September, there were more than 724,000 power consumption sites in Estonia. Of these, 580,600 consumption sites buy electricity from an electricity seller on the basis of a contract and 143,400 buy electricity from distribution grid companies under universal service.

Compared to last month, over 300 new consumption sites accrued. Starting in early October, contracts with the same seller are being extended or new contracts concluded in about 3,000 cases. At the start of the new quarter, consumers switched to different electricity sellers more actively than usually – in the previous months, an average of 300 consumption sites switched to a different service provider each month, while in the beginning of October, 700 changed sellers.

The market shares of electricity sellers’ balance portfolios in the recent months on the basis of consumption were listed in the table below. The basis for calculation of the shares of the portfolios are the consumption volumes metered in a given district, consisting of the network losses for the network operators and, in addition, the electricity sold under universal service. Fixed supplies to consumers were not counted, due to which the sellers’ actual shares of power sold may vary slightly from the data in the table.
