Based on the data of Estfeed, the Elering smart grid platform, there were approximately 723,700 electricity consumption sites in Estonia as of the end of August. 580,000 consumption sites purchase electricity from sellers on the basis of a contract whereas 143,700 sites purchase electricity as a universal service from the distribution network operator.

The number of consumption sites increased by nearly 300 in August as compared to the previous month. Approximately 2,600 new contracts for the sale of electricity will enter into force in the beginning of September, while 400 consumption sites will switch their seller.

As of the end of August, there are approximately 56,200 gas network contracts and the number has not changed as compared to the previous month. 54,800 consumption sites purchase gas on the basis of a contract while 1,400 metering points purchase gas from the distribution network operator.

The market shares of the balance portfolios of sellers, based on consumption, are set out in the table below. When calculating the portfolio proportions, the metered consumption volumes for the region were used as the basis. The consumption volumes include the network losses of network operators and electricity sold as universal service. The volumes do not include fixed supply to consumers; therefore, the actual market shares of the sellers may differ slightly from those presented in the table.
