Elering supervisory board decides to extend contract with Taavi Veskimägi as chairman of Elering management board
Elering’s supervisory board has decided to extend the contract with the current chairman of Elering’s management board, Taavi Veskimägi, for the next five years.
“Elering’s 10 years of independent operation as Estonia’s electricity and gas transmission system operator has been an undisputed success story. The supervisory board sees Taavi Veskimägi’s actions to develop Elering and the Estonian energy market and networks in general as excellent,“ said the chairman of Elering’s supervisory board, Timo Rajala. “Based on his performance, the supervisory board has decided to renew the contract with Taavi for the new term, this time without holding a public hiring round. The experience to this point gives us assurance that Taavi will be able to carry out the critical projects that lie ahead for the company, above all the preparations for synchronizing the Baltic electricity system with that of continental Europe,“ he added.
Veskimägi said he gave deep consideration to the supervisory board’s motion as he has already headed the company for two terms, ever since Elering split off from Eesti Energia. “I’d like to thank the supervisory board for their trust. The supervisory board’s decision is first and foremost a reflection on Elering’s team successful activity to date. I am prepared to stay on, because when I assess the challenges ahead for Elering, I feel I can still contribute with the deep motivation into tasks ahead of the company. The one single project that involves the greatest amount of responsibility is undoubtedly synchronizing the Baltic electricity system with the continental Europe, which has become increasingly important over time to ensuring security of supply of Estonian consumers in all times,“ said Veskimägi.
The new contract with the chairman of the board will come into force on 1 December 2019.
