On Tuesday, Elering signed a contract with Siemens to maintain the converter plant of the Estonia-Finland Estlink 2 direct current interconnection at Püssi substation.

“The signed maintenance contract has to ensure the reliability of Estlink 2 to enable unrestricted functioning of the electricity market between Estonia and Finland for at least 95 per cent of the hours during the year,” remarked Chairman of the Elering Board, Taavi Veskimägi.

The contract consists of scheduled maintenance, unscheduled maintenance or eliminating breakdowns, emergency preparedness and phone support of the equipment manufacturer. With regard to technological equipment, the contract deals with alternating current and direct current switchgears, transformers, a converter, metering systems, protection systems, control systems, domestic systems and the cooling system.

The contract was signed for five years with the option to extend it for another three years. The estimated cost of the scheduled activities in the contract is up to 4.3 million euros over an eight year period.
