On 30 June, Elering concluded an agreement with AS Merko Infra for the renovation of the Kuusalu 110-kilovolt high-voltage substation in Harjumaa. The value of the contract is 1.1 million euros excluding VAT.

Renovation will be carried out using the “turnkey” method and includes the supply of equipment and materials together with necessary design work, installation, set-up and inspection. The old distributor will be demolished and a new 110 kV external distributor with two sections will be erected together with line reconnections and new management, assistance and control systems. During construction work, the access road will be rebuilt, and a new control building, 110 kV distributor and communications shed will be built.

The refurbished substation dates from 1983 and has depreciated. After renovation, the substation will be more reliable and its construction will increase security of energy supply for residents and companies in the region.

A total of five tenderers participated in the public procurement for the construction contract, the winner of which was AS Merko Infra.

Renovation work will begin in July and the project will be completed and handed over to Elering in October 2018.
