According to data from Elering’s Estfeed smart grid platform, the electricity seller was changed at 21 600 consumption points in total last year, compared with 25 800 consumption points in 2016.

On average, 1800 consumption points changed their electricity seller each month in the last year, and 2200 in 2016. The number of changes in seller is significantly higher at the start of the year than in other months. At the start of this year, the electricity seller was changed at 6400 consumption points, compared with 9400 points last year.

As of the beginning of this year, there is an electricity contract in place at 580 800 consumption points. There are 723 300 consumption points in total. The number of consumption points is steadily increasing—in the last year, 3400 consumption points were added. In 2016, 4400 consumption points were connected.
Consumption points without an electricity agreement currently total 142 500, and these points are sold electricity by the local distribution network as universal service.

At the start of 2017, Elering’s smart grid platform also began to collect information on gas contracts. Based on data from the platform, an average of 180 consumption points changed gas seller each month. Currently, 54 300 consumption points have a contract for the purchase of gas, while nearly one thousand consumption points purchase gas under universal service. A year ago, there were 53 600 consumption points.
