Electricity seller changed at 1300 consumption points at start of June

At the beginning of June, there was an agreement for electricity purchase in place at 580 000 consumption points, according to statistics provided by the Elering-run Data Warehouse. At the beginning of the month, 1300 consumption points changed their electricity supplier.

Consumption points without an electricity contract, or universal service users, numbered 137 000, or almost the same number as at the beginning of May. Although general service users make up 19 per cent of all consumption points, their share of electricity consumption fell in April to only 4.5 per cent.

The market shares of the electricity sellers for the last few months are presented in the table below. The weights of the portfolios are based on measurements of regional consumption volumes, which include network operators’ network losses in addition to universal service volumes. Fixed-supply consumers have not been included in calculations, the result of which is that the actual market shares of sellers may differ slightly from the information given in the table.

According to calculations of produced electricity, Eesti Energia’s balance portfolio had 87 per cent of the share in April. The next largest were Baltic Energy Services and Nordic Power Management, both with five percent, and Fortum Eesti and Elektrum Eesti with one per cent each.
