EstLink 1 and EstLink 2, the interconnections between Estonia and Finland, are down and according to preliminary information will not be in operation on Thursday.

EstLink 2 switched off on Tuesday morning caused by the activation of the direct current return circuit’s differential protection. EstLink 1 switched off on Wednesday morning due to a fault in the Harku converter station’s cooling system.

Elering, administrator of the interconnection, immediately started activities in order to investigate and clear the causes of the faults.

The transmission system operator will make a first announcement about the clearing of the faults through the Nord Pool Spot urgent market messages (UMM) system.
