Almost 10,000 consumption points to change electricity seller from New Year

According to statistics provided by the Elering-managed Data Warehouse named Andmeladu, the electricity seller is to change from 1 January 2016 at 9,900 consumption points, the same number of changes in seller as at the beginning of 2015.

Altogether, there is an electricity consumption agreement in place at 578,000 consumption points. The situation on Monday was that fixed-term contracts were in place at 387,000 consumption points, and open-ended contracts at 191,000 consumption points. From 1 January, the number of users on fixed-term contracts will fall by almost 7,000, and the number of users with open-ended contracts will rise by around the same number.

Almost 137,000 consumption points do not have an electricity purchase agreement. This figure will not change significantly from the new year. Although consumption points without an electricity contract constitute 19 per cent of the total number of consumption points, their share of total electricity consumption fell to just 4.8 per cent in November.

The market shares of the balance sheet portfolios of electricity sellers in recent months are given in the table below. The calculation of the weights of the portfolios are based on the region’s measured consumption volumes, which includes network operators’ network losses and additionally universal service volumes. Fixed-supply consumers have not been taken into account, which is why sellers’ actual sales shares may differ slightly from that shown in the table.
