1200 consumption points switch electricity seller at start of February

According to statistics provided by the Elering-run Data Warehouse, the beginning of February saw a change in electricity seller at 1200 consumption points.

Altogether, agreements for electricity consumption are in place at 570 000 consumptions, which is around 1000 more than at the start of January. Statistics available on Monday showed that fixed-term contracts are in use at 378 000 consumption points, and open-ended contracts are in place at 201 000 consumption points. The number of open-ended contracts has grown by 2000 in a month.

There are still almost 137 000 consumption points where no electricity purchase contract has been signed. Although consumption points with no electricity contract comprise 19 per cent of all consumption points, their share of electricity consumption fell last year to just 5.4 per cent of total annual electricity consumption. In December, this segment’s share of consumption totalled 5.1 per cent.

The 2015 and 2014 market shares of the balance portfolios of electricity sellers are available in the table below. The weights of the portfolios are based on measurements of regional consumption volumes, which include network operators’ network losses in additional to universal service volumes. Fixed-supply consumers have not been included in calculations, the result of which is that the actual market shares of sellers may differ slightly from the information given in the table.
